Dr Mark Sweet is a member of the Travel Medicine Alliance and Surrey Hills Medical Centre is an accredited yellow fever vaccine clinic. Your doctor will provide travel vaccines and travel health advice to prepare you for a healthy international experience. This means that when you book a specific ‘travel appointment’ you will be able to discuss the details of your trip with your doctor who will advise you on the best way to protect yourself while away.
Generally speaking you should see your travel doctor six to eight weeks prior to your departure date. But even at short notice it can be useful to see your doctor, as some vaccines and malaria medications can be given even the day before departure.
Please call reception on 9836 1366 to schedule your travel medicine appointment.
You will require a long appointment with the doctor and nurse for this visit so we ask that you do not book your appointment online via HotDoc.

Lifestyle medicine works towards improving prevention, management, and treatment of chronic, complex and lifestyle-related conditions. ‘Lifestyle-related’ includes behavioural, societal, environmental and other factors.
Lifestyle Medicine is often described in terms of its ‘6 Pillars’ (diet/nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation, alcohol harm reduction, sleep and stress, and of course social connection).
A longer first appointment with Dr Andrew White is ideal to define the areas you would like to address, and further appointments can be scheduled to suit. Consider lifestyle medicine as part of, or complementing traditional medical practice.
Dr Andrew White has written an article explaining why food choices are so important in determining lifespan and quality of life. You can read his article here.

If you are a regular patient of our practice and have a chronic medical condition, you may be eligible for a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) and review appointments every 13 weeks.
These regular review appointments allow your doctor to monitor your condition, ensure your treatment remains appropriate, and update your management plan when needed. They may also attract a higher Medicare rebate than a standard consultation.
Even if you're feeling well, it's important to continue monitoring chronic conditions. Your review appointment is a great opportunity to check in with your doctor, discuss any concerns, and organise your routine prescriptions at the same time.
If you think you may be eligible, speak with your doctor at your next appointment. They can discuss whether a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan is suitable for you.

Your weight is only part of your picture. In under 1 minute, a body composition scan with Dr John Tai reveals what the scales cannot — giving you and your doctor a more complete measure of your health. Our medical-grade Tanita MC-580 multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis device is a segmental body composition analyser that provides accurate and comprehensive measurements.
It's non-invasive, quick, painless, and informative — and can add depth to how we manage your health.
Your personalised report includes:
1. How much of your body is fat vs. muscle — and distribution
2. Your visceral fat level (the hidden fat around your organs linked to heart disease and diabetes)
3. Your basal metabolic rate
4. Progressive measurements so you can track changes over time
Particularly valuable if you:
1. Are training or participating in an exercise program
2. Are working on your physique or interested in medical weight loss
3. Have diabetes, pre-diabetes, or heart disease risk
4. Are concerned about muscle loss as you age
5. Have medical reasons affecting body composition (e.g. corticosteroid use or thyroid disturbance)
6. Want quantitative measures and to track progress over time. -
The team at Surrey Hills Medical Centre is experienced in helping patients navigate the challenges of achieving and maintaining weight loss goals in the context of the busy modern lifestyle. Dr John Tai is pleased to offer an evidence-based specialised multidisciplinary weight loss service. He is passionate about improving patients’ health and fitness as well as their confidence. Including:

2. Multidisciplinary team approach (eg. dietician, life coach, exercise physiology, etc)
3. Body composition analysis for in-depth assessment and tracking of progress
4. Goals across a range of domains including diet, movement, sleep, wellbeing, etc
