From Sunday 1st October 2023, your doctor’s fees practice fees have increased.

As the community will know, cost of living expenses are on the rise and this means the cost to your doctor of running their practice is doing the same.

From the 1st of July, 2023 the Medicare rebate was increased by only 3.6%. Unfortunately, after years of Medicare rebate freezes it still falls way short of meeting your doctor’s cost of providing healthcare.

Your doctor will continue to provide a reduced rate for children under 16 years of age, full time students under 25 years of age, pensioners, concession and health care card holders.

Please remember that fees are at the discretion of your individual doctor. These fees may vary for different doctors but the below is a general guide of the fees generally charged by the independent doctors we support.

Your doctor will always explain any additional costs to you and obtain your consent prior to any treatment received.

The doctors we support at Surrey Hills Medical Centre no longer directly invoice Work Safe Insurance Companies, employers or TAC for their patients treatment. You should be aware that the cost of treatment with your doctor may be in excess of the amount Work Safe or TAC reimburse.

You will be asked to settle your account at the time of your treatment. Your Medicare rebate can be processed and deposited into your account at the time of payment.

Please notify reception or your doctor if you have had a surgical procedure recently as this can affect Medicare claiming.
